How does the RTC8000 Work

The RTC8000 manages your risk by monitoring the movement of staff and creating a permanent record of your activity within a site. Not only does the system log this activity, but it also monitors it according to your pre-defined parameters and notifies your staff in real-time should they not meet these parameters. This allows your staff to respond immediately and ensure that the whole site is adequately covered.

The RTC8000 also provides detailed reporting to allow you to identify procedural problems so you can implement effective solutions.

This manual addresses all aspects of Occupational Health and Safety applicable to Companies

employing staff.

An understanding of the contents of the manual is necessary for managers, supervisors and

employees. It outlines the responsibilities, procedures and actions required of all employees to

achieve the necessary standards of Occupational Health and Safety whilst working at the

company facilities.

All employees, at all levels will accept these responsibilities and comply with the procedures

outlined in this manual.

Today's social, legal and industrial climate demands extremely high standards of occupational health and safety management from all employers.

The company's policy, and the range of systems and procedures dealing with workplace health and safety, is based, to a large extent, on the obligations and duties imposed by the body of statutory law relating to occupational health and safety.

Occupational Health and Safety Act - 1983 is the controlling legislation in this field. This Act also incorporates or nominates a wide range of Rules, Regulations, Codes of Practice and Australian Standards dealing with specific health or safety issues.

Compliance with the Act and its supporting requirements is mandatory.

Under this legislation, the primary duties of the company in plain language are to:

Provide and maintain plant and systems of work that are, so far as is practicable, safe and without risk to the health and safety of any person.

Ensure, so far as is practicable, safety and absence of risk in connection with the use, handling, storage and transport of plant and substances.

Maintain, so far as is practicable, any workplace under our control in a condition that is safe and without risk to the health and safety of any person.

Provide, so far as is practicable, adequate facilities for the health and safety of employees.

Provide, so far as is practicable, such information, instruction, training and supervision to enable employees to work in a manner that is safe and without risk.

Provide protective clothing and equipment where it is not practicable to avoid the presence of hazards at the workplace by other means.

The Act also imposes specific duties on individual employees. In summary these require all employees to:

Comply with all instructions given by his/her employer for his/her own health or safety or for the health and safety of other persons.

Use such protective clothing and equipment as is provided, or provided for, in a manner in which he/she has been properly instructed to use it.

Not wilfully or recklessly interfere with, or misuse anything provided in the interests of health and safety pursuant to any provision of the Act.

Not wilfully place at risk the health or safety of any person at the workplace.

The Occupational Health and Safety Act 1983 prescribe severe penalties for offences against the Act. Under the Act the Company, as well as individual managers, supervisors or staff members can be held liable for offences or breaches and can be penalised accordingly.

It is vitally important to note also that the duties of the Employer and the Employee outlined above extend to include a duty of care owed to "any persons" in the workplace. This means that the company has responsibilities for the health and safety of visitors, contractors, volunteers and members of the public whilst on any of the company's properties.

Continually assess staff performance, analyse and carry out additional training as required.

Report to the Training Manager on a monthly basis the effectiveness of the sites training program.
